Stump removal in Nelson, ground out below the surface
A stump left after a removal, or an old one the mower keeps finding. It’s ground out below ground level where it stands, so the spot can go back to lawn, garden or paving.

How the team does it
- The stump ground down where it stands, below the level of the lawn.
- No big hole to dig out or fill: the stump turns to chips in place.
- The spot raked level, ready to sow, plant or pave.
What Oliver needs for the quote
- A photo of the stump, with something for scale
- How wide it is across the top
- How many stumps there are
- The narrowest point on the way in
- Your suburb
Grinding, not digging
Digging out a big stump means a big hole and a lot of mess. Grinding takes the stump down where it stands, below the surface, so there’s nothing left to trip on or mow round.
Once it’s gone the spot is raked level. Sow it, plant it or pave over it.
Ollie was excellent to work with, from quoting to job completion, clean work done around the property in Stoke.

After a removal, or years later
When the team takes a tree down, the stump can be ground out as part of the same job. Just say you want it gone when Oliver quotes.
Old stumps are part of the work too: stumps left from trees cut years ago, stumps from old orchard or shelter trees, and stumps sending up new shoots.
What sets the price
- How wide the stump is
- How many stumps there are
- The way in to the stump
- What’s close by: paths, walls or garden
Oliver comes out, meets you and quotes the job, so the price is set before any work starts.

Do you grind stumps from trees you didn’t take down?
Yes. Old stumps, stumps from trees someone else cut and stumps sending up shoots can all be ground out.
What do you need to quote a stump?
A photo of the stump with something next to it for scale, how wide it is across the top, how many there are and the narrowest point on the way in.
Can the stump come out on the same job as the tree?
Yes. Say you want the stump gone when Oliver quotes the removal, and it’s included.
